The Voyages of the "Discovery" by Ann Savours
The Discovery was built for Captain Scott's first Antarctic expedition of 1901-04 and was launched one hundred years ago, in 1901, at Dundee. She had many roles before her final voyage back to Dundee in 1986, and this book tells the story of that chequered career.
Ann Savours is one of Britain's leading experts on Polar exploration and history and was on the staff of the Scott Polar Research Institute from 1954 to 1966, and at the national maritime Museum from 1970 to 1987. She was also Research and Displays Officer for 'Project Discovery'. Two previous books, Scott's Last Voyage and The Search for the North West Passage, have been highly acclaimed.
