He is the author of four books: Four Boots, One Adventure, Get Your Kids Hiking, and A Walk in the Sun. The Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) is where Alt belongs. He and his wife have hiked the Appalachian Trail and the John Muir Trail, and he has carried his 21-month-old daughter across an Irish path.
