Walkin' After Midnight (PB) by Lauren St John
This is the story of a love affair with music and a quest which began when Lauren St John packed her guitar and set out to find the soul that lies behind Nashville's surface glitter. Granted unprecedented access to Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams and numerous others, Lauren St John travelled from Wilkesboro, North Carolina to Hollywood and beyond to write a true insider's account of the American roots musicians who carry the flame of legends like Hank Williams, Gram Parson and Robert Johnson.
'This book is about my Nashville, the town I've called home for 26 years and have come to love in spite of itself' STEVE EARLE 'Nashville represents the American dream of stardom, of crawling from the gutter, of pure self-expression and the uplifting power of musicIt is to this place that Lauren St John journeys, intent on discovering the true soul of a city masked by rhinestones and cheap tourist haunts... Walkin' After Midnight is for all true keepers of the country flame and lovers of real music, whatever the genre' The Times
