Donald Moffitt was born in Boston in 1931 and died in 2014. He was a former public relations executive, industrial filmmaker, and ghostwriter who spent more than two decades writing fiction under a variety of pen identities. His first full-length science fiction novel, The Jupiter Theft, was published under his own name in 1977. Moffitt was a forward-thinking novelist known for his scientific precision and fast-paced, high-tech fiction. He and his wife, Ann, lived in rural Maine until his death in December 2014.
