Wallpapering the Cat by Jan Dean
Jan Dean's fantastic first collection for Macmillan includes sparkling poems on all sorts of subjects. There are poems on families, aliens, school, the bog people and, of course, cats and wallpaper - all written in her clever, witty style. from A Mother's Confession (Or: What you have always suspected...) As soon as you are asleep in bed I unlock the secret cupboard Where I keep all the chocolate And I eat it and eat it and eat it. I don't share it with anybody And I don't give half a hoot about my teeth.
Jan Dean lives near Manchester, but spends as much time as possible in East Devon. She enjoys lots of messy stuff - painting, gluing, digging holes in the garden and making bread. She likes earrings and often wears an enormous pair of giraffes (or penguins) when she visits schools to perform her poetry and write with classes. She is the author of The Penguin in Lost Property.
