-- Kirsty Patridge * Customer review *The word count in Watercolour With Love is deliciously low and gloriously concise. You’ll find brief instructions on the equipment needed, some pointers on techniques, but the soul of the book is in its stunning, easily recreatable watercolour wonders. Pick it up, bring a watercolour doughnut to life, put it down. All extremely beginner-friendly, and amazingly, no less elegant for being so.
* Papercrafter *If you’ve had a go at cake painting and are interested in further expanding your skills, Watercolour with Love would be a fantastic starting point. Although the book centres on watercolour painting, the same techniques could be employed when using diluted edible paints to recreate beautiful designs on cakes and bakes. Author Lena teaches you how to paint 50 popular modern motifs, from flowers and fruits to birds and animals. Each motif is broken down into five easy steps so you can see the order in which it’s built up and the shapes from which it’s formed. Although the tutorials are entirely pictorial, Lena reveals her helpful hints and tips for each motif in a ‘Good to Know’ segment alongside each one. It’s a great format and would be ideal for visual learners.

* Crafts Beautiful *Lena Yokota-Barth was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1985 and grew up mainly in Germany. It was during her maternity leave, at the end of 2016, that she started her blog, ‘Berries and Buttercup’, which stemmed from her passion for watercolour painting and DIY projects. On her blog, Lena inspired her readers with colourful watercolours and DIY ideas.
During annual visits to her native country, Lena kept coming into contact with Etegami, the Japanese style of watercolour painting. She never lost sight of this and, over the course of 2017, began to specialize in this form of watercolour painting.
