Wee Scotch Whisky Tales by Ian R Mitchell

A concise and entertaining book on some unknown episodes and stories from the folklore of Scotch whisky in the Highlands and Islands and how the craft was taken by Scots to New Zealand.

Ian R.Mitchell was born in Aberdeen and raised in Torry and Kincorth for the first 25 years of his life. After a couple of years working as a paper mill laborer and engineering machinist, he graduated in History from Aberdeen University in 1973 and relocated to Glasgow. Ian spent almost two decades teaching history at Clydebank College, where he also developed a classic textbook on Bismarck and German Development. Mountain Days and Bothy Nights (1987) and A Look from the Ridge (both co-written with Dave Brown), which won the Boardman-Tasker Award for Mountain Writing in 1991, are two of his climbing novels. More lately, he's become interested in urban heritage and walking, which led to the publications of This City Now: Glasgow and its Working Class Past (2005) and Clydeside: Red, Orange, and Green (2009).
