
Welcome Home, Jacky Fisher by Patrick Harris
August 19th 1942. The Dieppe Raid: After the hell of the beaches of Dieppe and along with many others, tank driver Staff Sergeant Jacky Fisher, is captured He is sent to a prisoner-of-war camp. The Nazi hierarchy, their army depleted of men, resort to a ready source of trained soldiers. The Germans form The British Free Corps. The prison camps are scoured for men who in return for freedom will join the Waffen SS, the Nazi's most feared and ruthless fighting force. Many including Jacky Fisher do. After an accident Jackie is catapulted into our time. Tradition states that all prisoners of war are greeted by the Prime Minister. It is not however Winston Churchill, Britain's war-time leader who Jacky meets!
The author was born in 1950 in Kent and still lives there. He was educated at the Harvey, Folkestone and Chatham Grammar Schools. He has now retired from the petro-chemical industry and is a widower. He has two grown-up children and has recently become a grandfather. This is his second book, the first a successful novella, A Long Road Home.
