Wendy Quill Tries to Grow a Pet by Wendy Meddour

When I grow up I want to be a vet but mum doesn't like things that poo in the house which means I'll never be allowed another pet. Not even one. Tiny. Small. Pet. It is true that I have Bathilda Brown, my beautiful, invisible, dribbly dog. But if I'm ever going to be a PROPER, PROFESSIONAL VET, I'm going to need lots of animals that I can actually see. My name is Wendy Quill and this is the story of how I tried to grow a pet!

'Perfect for transitional readers' * Making Them Readers book blog *
Wendy Meddour spent many years teaching English at Oxford University before Wendy Quill came along and stole the limelight. Now with four young children, a wobbly old house in Wiltshire, and a great new day-job writing funny books, she doesn't expect things to get quiet any time soon! Mina is Wendy's eleven-year-old daughter. She is much better at drawing than her mother. She is also better at singing, dancing, mathematics, Arabic, writing, and doing a backwards crab. (But please don't tell anyone about the writing bit, or Wendy will lose her job).
