Edward Alsworth Ross (1866-1951), one of the pioneers of American sociology, is most known for his belief that sociology's aim is to transform society. He was also a professor and chair of the University of Wisconsin's sociology department. Sin and Society, Transforming America, and The Social Trend are some of his works.
