
Why We Never Danced the Charleston, What the Dead Recall, and The German Officer's Son are among Harlan Greene's works. His nonfiction works and writings focus on literary, African American, Jewish, homosexual, and lowcountry South Carolina issues. He has worked at the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture, the Charleston County Public Library, the North Carolina Preservation Consortium, and the South Carolina Historical Society. He is now the director of the Addlestone Library at the College of Charleston. He and his partner, Jonathan Ray, live in his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina.
