Diane Rose-Solomon became progressively interested in animal rescue and education after saving a puppy 21 years ago, and she served on the board of directors of a tiny grass roots animal rescue and relief group for years. She became a Certified Humane Education Specialist through Humane Society University in 2009 to give back more to the animal community. The award-winning JJ the American Street Dog and How He Came to Be in Our Home, as well as the sequel JJ Goes to Puppy Class, were her first two books, which united her compassionate and creative interests. Her most recent book, What to Expect When Adopting a Dog, is a step-by-step guide to successful dog adoption for any household. Diane loves reading JJ books to kids at schools, libraries, and adoption events. Her mission is to teach children and adults about the importance of compassion for all living things, both human and animal.

To that purpose, she established Team Kindness, a program that teaches children, families, and teachers about and engages them in kind and humane educational activities. Her husband, two children, and two rescued dogs live with her in Los Angeles.
