Gillian Shields read English at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, before studying acting in London and later teaching at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts.

After having children, Gillian started writing children's books and has had many of her stories published, including Puppy Love (Simon & Schuster), Sam's Snowflake (Macmillan Children's Books) and Don't Let the Aliens Get My Marvellous Mum! (Gullane).

Anna Currey was born in Norfolk, grew up in Ireland and now lives in Bath. Anna has illustrated a number of books, including Rosie's Hat (Macmillan Children's Books), The Christmas Unicorn (OUP) and the Silverlake Fairy School series (Usborne)
