Theresa Breslin happened to be a writer by chance. She was a wandering librarian who was enraged by an injustice that had occurred in one of the villages she had visited. She went on to write a book about it, featuring a small kid as the protagonist. It was nominated for an award and filmed for television. And then she became a writer!
