Douglas Edward Reeman, also known as Alexander Kent, entered the Royal Navy at the age of 16 and served on destroyers and small ships throughout WWII, eventually attaining to the rank of lieutenant. He has worked as a script adviser for television and cinema and has taught navigation to yachtsmen. Reeman is the author of the best-selling Richard Bolitho novels as Alexander Kent.
