Widows of Hiroshima by Mikio Kanda

Nineteen autobiographical accounts of women from the Hiroshima area who lost their husbands in the nuclear attack on Hiroshima, these are told in the matter-of-fact style and earthy language of the Jananese peasant. Taken together, their accounts are portrayals of the hardships of women's lives among the Japanese peasantry and poignant expressions of lament and anger over the killing of their husbands. Mikio Kanda is the author of numerous books on agricultural topics and is a journalist for the Hiroshima edition of the "Nihon Nogyo Shinbun" (Japan agricultural newspaper).
