Alan Hall gained a degree in English at Durham University, and then qualified as a teacher. For the next thirty-seven years he taught in a variety of comprehensive schools in West Yorkshire, finishing with nine years in Bradford. Over the last few years Alan s interest in the Civic Society movement has increased, and since 2010 he has been the Chair of Bradford Civic Society, whose main focus is how best to use Bradford s Victorian heritage as a means of regenerating the city.
