The Wild Girl by Chris Wormell
This is the story of a little girl and her small brown dog. They live all alone in a little cave high up on the mountainside in the middle of the great wide wilderness. Then one day in the bitter cold of winter, as they are returning to their cave, they see bear tracks in the snow ...The ending to this adorable story will melt your heart and make you smile.
"Does just what a good picture book should do - takes four to six-year olds outside of themselves to a place where they can imagine being brave and alone but ends with a reassuring embrace" Sunday Telegraph "The delightfully endearing illustrations enhance this story extremely well.. the story is sweetly sad and will enchant young readers" Carousel "Follow the footprints to the heartwarming conclusion of this gentle and endearing story" The Good Book Guide "Deeply moving ... their solitude is evoked touchingly ... the girl is a delightful character with great appeal to children" TES Teacher "It is an enchanting tale, with just the right balance between feeling frightened and being brave, and the resolution is perfect" Books for Keeps
