Windmills of Norfolk by John Ling
In recent years a number of Norfolk's mills have been restored - sometimes to full working order - by private owners, councils and windmill trusts. The county has among the most extensive windmill remains in Britain and was once home to some of the largest ever built. There is much interest locally and nationally in the preservation of these symbols of a bygone age.In Windmills of Norfolk, John Ling brings together some of the most important and interesting examples, including many which still survive and others that have disappeared. Within its pages are recorded the often forgotten record-breaking giants of the past together with a host of present-day survivors that can be visited or viewed.
John Ling lives in Norwich and has spent several years extensively researching the local history of East Anglia. A long-time windmill enthusiast, he has spent several years researching the windmills of his home county. His previous publications include Illustrated Tales of Norfolk, Windmills and Watermills of Suffolk, Windmills of Norfolk, Illustrated Tales of Suffolk and Norfolk Places Behind the Faces.
