The Wine-Oh! Guide to California's Sierra Foothills by Dahlynn Mckowen
There's gold in California's Sierra foothills, and it runs red, pink, and white--wine! For wine aficionados, history lovers, and curious travelers, this book is an entertaining companion to one of California's most intriguing wine areas. Although less well known than the Napa and Sonoma wine regions, the roots of wine growing here in these higher elevations run deep-as far back as the 1850s, when the first vineyards were planted to satisfy the thirst of the 49ers.
Whether you're a wine connoisseur or are just starting out, the Wine-Oh! Guide is the best resource for wineries big and small and everything in between. It describes more than 100 wineries in helpful detail, and includes side trips to notable attractions in the area, including historic Gold Rush towns and Mother Lode sites.
