Winston And The Canny Lass by Barry Stone
Winston And The Canny Lass. Book Two. The Winston Tails. Six years after Brucie the colourful collie-cross with extraordinary powers was rescued by Ginger and her four zany teenagers, twenty two year old Vanessa is the first of his treasured humans to fall in love. But how can she trust this beautiful new experience when the relationship of her parents, who'd also loved each other, was marred by emotional and physical violence? Determined to understand what is going on in Vanessa's heart, Brucie the all-seeing mutt undertakes a journey that also encompasses the unusual upbringing of Vanessa's quirky and talented young man, Zenon.
Really, really powerfulA poignant tale of love and family life, with all its imperfections, frustrations, sadness and humour. Full of memorable characters with a heart warming feel-good end. Someone should turn this book into a film. Richard W Hardwick. Author.
Barry Stone was born in 1958 but likes to think it was 1988. He has written for radio, television and stage. Winston And The Canny Lass is the second volume in his doggy-narrated series: The Winston Tails. A lifelong dog lover, Barry partly attributes his good physical health to the thousands of miles which he has clocked up whilst exercising the adored - and non too well behaved - canines that have been a major part of his life. He has a three year old black Labrador that is called Bonzo. Or Asbo when misbehaving.
