The author of This House of Sky provides a magnificent evocation of the Pacific Northwest through the diaries of James Gilchrist Swan, a settler of the region. Doig fuses parts of the Swan diaries with his own journal.Ivan Doig was born in Montana in 1939 and grew up beside the majestic Rocky Mountain Front, which has inspired much of his writing. He is the author of eight prior novels, the most recent of which is The Whistling Season, as well as three works of nonfiction, including This House of Sky, for which he received a lifetime Outstanding Achievement Award from the Western Literary Association. He is based in Seattle.
