Wisden Cricketers' Almanack by Tim De Lisle
This 2003 edition of the "Wisden Cricketers' Almanack" provides a comprehensive analysis of cricketing statistics from both the national and county game. Simon Barnes pinpoints Steve Waugh's impact on the game, and there are essays on Tendulkar at 30, global overload and the summer of 1953, when England, incredibly, won the Ashes. Always reliable on players' births and deaths, it now turns to the state of their marriages. Can a top player also be a new man?
Tim de Lisle has taken over from Graeme Wright as editor of the Wisden Cricketers Almanack. At 40, he is the youngest peacetime editor of Wisden since the 19th century and has previously edited Wisden Cricket Monthly and Wisden.com. He was involved in the setting up of Wisden Asia Cricket Magazine in 2001 and is a cricket columnist for The Independent newspaper. He is also pop music critic for The Mail on Sunday newspaper.
