Women Against the Iron Fist by Sybil Oldfield
This book examines the significant contribution made by women to pacifist thought this century. The author begins with an analysis of the set of beliefs underlying Bismarckian military doctrine and then goes on to contrast militarism with the pacifism of some outstanding women thinkers from Europe, Britain and America. They include Maude Royden, Sophie Scholl and Christa Wolf, as well as their more famous counterparts, Helen Keller, Eleanor Roosevelt, Simone Weil, Virginia Woolf and Jane Addams.
