Brandon Marie Miller graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in American history and a minor in art history. Her interest in history began at a young age, thanks to her parents, both teachers, who pushed her to visit national parks, historic sites, battlefields, and museums to walk in the footsteps of the past. The International Reading Association, the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS), the Society of School Librarians International, Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA), Bank Street College, the New York Public Library, and the Chicago Public Library, among others, have recognized her award-winning publications for young people.
