Jann Visser was born in Zimbabwe where she studied art. She started painting in oils and acrylics, selling her works at art exhibitions. After working for the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, she moved to South Africa and joined M-Net television production where she worked for ten years. Jann was introduced to encaustic art in 1996 and fell in love with the fact that it is so 'instant'. Soon, what started as a hobby became a passion, and she started teaching others this amazing art form. By writing this book, Jann hopes to help other people discover the beauty of encaustic art. She has written numerous articles for craft magazines and regularly gives demonstrations for art societies and groups. Jann lives in Cape Town with her husband and two children.
