Wonderfully Winnie! by Laura Owen

Winnie the Witch is nothing short of wonderful! Here's just a taster of the twelve stories in this book: in 'Jurassic Winnie' you'll find her using magic to take a dinosaur's photo; in 'Detective Winnie' she tries out her sleuthing skills; in 'Winnie's Time Machine' she comes face to face with a rather fierce cavewoman; and in 'Winnie Goes Wild' she swings through the trees, Tarzan style! As well as the twelve stories, there are bonus pages of jokes at the end of the book - what could be more wonderful than Winnie? Twelve crazily funny stories featuring everyone's favourite witch, her big black cat, Wilbur, and a zany supporting cast of characters. Korky Paul's exuberant black line illustrations complement the humour, slapstick, and moments of real drama that run through each story. Pure magic!
The story of Winnie and her black cat Wilbur is fast becoming a children's classic and with the current vogue for miniature books, it is certain to reach an even wider audience* Herts Advertiser *
Even witches can be made fun rather than frightening - friendly and un-scary witches can make excellent characters to draw on when looking for a model for dressing up... Valerie Thomas and Korky Paul's Winnie, heroine of Winnie the Witch and many subsequent titles is more a centre of catastrophe than terror. * Julia Eccleshare, The Guardian *
Korky Paul, born in Zimbabwe, is a well-known illustrator. His drawings appear in more than 25 Winnie books, as well as many other poetry anthologies and picture books. Known only to himself as 'the world's greatest portrait artist', Korky visits schools to promote his passion for drawing. He lives in Oxford with his wife.
