Wool by Jane Harris
In Science Explorers, children find out about the properties and uses of everyday materials. The series takes an active approach to finding out about materials. Children are encouraged to ask questions about what different materials are like, formulate ideas about how a material might behave (when water is dropped on to it, for instance), and test out these ideas. How does a sheep's coat get turned into wool that we can use? Why are wool clothes warm? This book also looks at felt, recycling wool and washing wool.
'An excellent non-fiction (series) for either Reception or Year OneThe information is presented in short pieces of text which are manageable for the early reader. The photographs which accompany the text are clear, bright and attractive.' Child Education
