Grossology, or the idea of teaching science through gross things, was created by Sylvia Carol Branzei-Velasquez. She lives in Northern California with her husband, three dogs, and two cats, and is a former science teacher. She is a member of the Leggett Unified School District board of trustees, as well as a columnist for a local newspaper and a writer. She frequently travels out of the woods and into cities and towns to perform nasty things at museums, universities, and schools. Her house is completely off the grid, powered fully by solar and generator electricity and heated totally by wood.
