Christopher Bird was a writer who wrote The Hidden Lives of Plants and The Divining Hand: The 500-Year-Old Mystery of Dowsing, among other works. In the 1950s, he worked for the Central Intelligence Agency. Bird was an editor of the Gallatin Annual of International Business and a correspondent for Time Magazine in Yugoslavia, and was fluent in French and Russian.
