World of Wonders:The Most Mesmerizing Natural Phenomena on Earth by Elisabeth Roman
Records and mysteries: a voyage in images through the most incredible and mysterious stories in nature. In World of Wonders, author Elisabeth Roman presents the natural world's wonders and records in a new, original format, beginning each story with a question (like, Whose heart beats the fastest? Does the snail really have millions of teeth?) and then describes, in detail that covers a two-page spread, over ninety world records. Young readers will learn about the natural world's exploits in different categories: height, growth, age, temperature, light, danger, weight, etc. Some other examples of topics covered: How does a squirrel manage to fly? Why do giraffes have the heaviest (in weight) heart? Includes 90 photographs.
Elisabeth Roman began her career as a journalist in 1991. After working for several years as a freelancer, she narrowed her focus to children's media. She held the position of editor-in-chief for the science programme "Atomes Crochus" from 1995 to 1999, the magazine Kid Paddle (video games) from 2003 to 2006 and the magazine Science et Vie decouvertes since 2006.
