Bella Bathurst is a furniture maker, a writer, and a photojournalist. She's also the author of four nonfiction works, including The Lighthouse Stevensons, which won the Somerset Maugham Award in 1999, and Special, a novel that was shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction. Her work has been published in the Guardian, the Observer, and a variety of other publications.
