Justin Zobel is the head of the Department of Computing and Information Systems at the University of Melbourne. He obtained his PhD from the University of Melbourne and spent several years as the head of the Search Engine group at RMIT University. Professor Zobel is well recognized as a researcher for his contributions to the development of effective web search algorithms. Search, measurement, and evaluation, bioinformatics, foundational algorithms and data structures, and compression are some of his current research interests. He has written three texts on postgraduate study and research methodologies and is an associate editor of ACM Transactions on Information Systems, Information Processing & Management, and Information Retrieval. He has published over 200 papers and is an associate editor of ACM Transactions on Information Systems, Information Processing & Management, and Information Retrieval.
