WRITTEN IN JEST by Lee Michael A
In response to a mid-life crisis, Michael Lee decided to take positive action. He began writing letters of application for jobs that were either impossibly beyond his capability, or for which he would be deemed massively under-qualified or under-skilled, or for jobs that didn't exist at all, but might, just possibly might, if reality were viewed from a different angle. He would collect the replies, put together a best-selling book and perhaps become a wealthy author and lecturer in no time at all. The result is a highly entertaining collection of letters and replies. And yes, he really exists!
The Spectator Cartoon Book 2002 contains the best of the best - 96 pages of the very wittiest of the 1500 cartoons which appear in the Spectator over the yearWonderfully inventive spoof job applications from high-profile people, ranging from Pope John Paul II to the Beast of Bodmin Moor.
Michael A Lee has been a sales executive in a pharmaceutical company for the last 19 years. In October 2000 he wrote to the town hall in El Paso, applying to be the next mayor of Texas and his story appeared on CBS Channel 4 News. The experience inspired him to continue his unusual job search. He is a keen after-dinner speaker.
