Wulf and the Runes of Woden by Jo Barnes
Why would a god need the help of a teenage boy? It's two years since the Battle of Hastings and Wulf is fighting with the English resistance against their new Norman masters. But now there's a greater danger, one which threatens Woden himself. An evil magician is plotting to rise again, by capturing Woden's lost runes - unless Wulf can retrieve them first. Supported by his friends - Oz with his endless jokes and Bronwen with her powers of second sight - Wulf hopes to triumph over evil, but he must draw on help from unexpected places, and from beyond his world. Full of adventure, magic and mystery, this is the sequel to Wulf and the Power of Thorn. Suitable for ages 10 to 110.Jo writes characters we can relate to, and some we won't want to! And she never just sticks to humans. There are elves, gods, foxes and dragons.
This is the third of Jo's books to be published and is the sequel to Wulf and the Power of Thorn. Jo loved both fantasy and the Anglo-Saxons and combined the two in her Wulf novels. She intended to write only one story about Wulf and his friends, but found she couldn't let her characters go.
Her first book was Odd Fox Out, a thrilling adventure about a fox who - rather inconveniently for him - decides he can't go on eating meat.
All of Jo's books are published by SilverWood Books and are available from booksellers and online.
