The Yarn Palette by Claire Montgomerie
This is a guide to the different types of yarn available (not just traditional wool but also cotton and silk yarns) and the wide variety of colours, textures and fibres that they come in. The book covers colour and how to blend it with textures to create specific moods. There are sections on natural colours, various cultural choices and favourite hues from different historical periods. Twenty projects are included and there are useful directories on stitch types as well as the different yarns available. The book is suitable for the beginner but will also be an invaluable source of inspiration for the more experienced knitter and designer. It should be on all knitters' reference shelves.
'New designers will find this an invaluable resourse as they start to create their own patternd, and all knitters will gain the knowledge they need to confidently choose new and unique yarns for their next project' Knit Today '..a useful source book for weavers who are interested in, or may need help with, colour, design and yarn for their projects.' Journal for Weavers, Spinners and Dyers (Autumn 2009)
