A Year Unplugged by Sharael Kolberg
In A Year Unplugged, Sharael Kolberg chronicles her family's brave attempt to wean themselves from technology in an effort to reclaim quality family time. The Kolbergs decided to turn off their television, unplug their iPods, iPhones, laptops and digital cameras, and disconnect from e-mail, cell phones and the Internet. Not an easy task. Sharael's true-life tale explores how dependent we are on technology and the impact it has on interpersonal relationships and society. Through thought-provoking, humorous and heart-wrenching narrative, Sharael hopes to compel readers to open dialogue about the conscious use of technology.
Sharael Kolberg began her writing career in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. As a nationally published journalist, Sharael's work has been published in numerous magazines, newspapers and Web sites, including Outside and Sunset magazines. Sharael is also the author of Six Seasons In Oz: 45 Weeks of Adventures in Sydney and Beyond and Building a Lasting Marriage: A Couple's Guide to Happily Ever After. Sharael and her family currently reside in Laguna Beach, where her husband Jeff grew up. She writes for Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Riviera and Orange Coast magazines. In her spare time, she uses her a Master Gardener skills to teach children's gardening at local schools (her interest in gardening was a direct result of living without technology!).
