The Year We Muddled Through by Lauren Fennemore
For children, this rhyming story reveals magical rainbows, dancing animals, giant sunflowers and the starriest skies. For adults, the book captures the weirdness and wonder of a year where so much changed in our world ... and in our households.
I absolutely love this magical little story about the year we all muddled through - @thisliterary.queendom on Instagram ; I just adore these books and the hope and sparkle they bring to what have been some very dull days - @goingwiththeflouk on Instagram ; It's an emotional and highly relatable read, which has been sprinkled with a little bit of childhood imagination and magic. It's a wonderful keepsake for a most unusual time in our lives and I cannot recommend it highly enough - @ivyslibrary on Instagram
Lauren worked in communications and as a freelance writer for several years. With a passion for storytelling in rhyme and a desire to capture emotive themes, it was the whirlwind of 2020 that inspired her to write. "Somewhere amongst the chaos of 2020 I found myself without work and heavily pregnant after a long and gruelling journey with IVF. I wanted to write something that captured the emotions of a year so strange but also special for many families... because beautiful, magical things did still manage to find a place in 2020. I hope my book serves as a way of remembering that."
