Allen Francis, MD, is a Duke University School of Medicine professor emeritus and former chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science. Dr. Frances chaired the DSM-IV Task Committee and was a member of the DSM-III and DSM-III-R leadership group. He is the author of Preserving Normal, an international bestseller, and Fundamentals of Psychiatric Diagnosis, a reference work. He resides in the city of San Diego, California.
