Your Rights by John Wadham
Attacks on civil liberties are on the increase in the United Kingdom. This is evident in restrictions on press freedom, greater public secrecy, censorship, intolerance towards "travellers", lesbians and gays and other minority groups and wider police controls. This book provides a guide to civil rights and the law for the lay reader as well as those working in the legal and advice professions. Based on Liberty's own advice sheets, the guide explains legal rights, covering recent legislation and highlights aspects of the law which adversely affect civil rights. Each section is prefaced with a summary of the issues covered, followed by definitions and powers relevant to the area. The guide does not cover the law in Scotland or Northern Ireland.
"'This is an excellent guide to a whole range of civil liberties issuesIt... provides the kind of information that anyone who comes up against the law in any form needs to know. The topics covered... are presented in a clear and easy to understand format' Labour Research 'An invaluable and practical guide to your rights under the law and how to get redress if they are infringed' Labour Campaign for Criminal Justice Newsletter
