M Sarki is a native of northern Michigan. Born in 1953 of Finnish heritage, Sarki learned the trade of carpentry and worked extensively in Michigan, Alaska, Oregon, and Florida before settling in Kentucky. Since 1995 Sarki has written poems under the tutelage and editing of the infamous Gordon Lish and has been published extensively in journals such as Unsaid, elimae, NY Tyrant, New Orleans Review, South Atlantic Quarterly, and many others. Deron Bauman of elimae books in 2000 designed and made by hand a Japanese-bound limited edition collection of Sarki's first book of poems titled Zimble Zamble Zumble. M Sarki has gone on to publish three more collections: an affordable trade edition Author's Press paperback of Zimble Zamble Zumble, a paperback edition of Little War Machine published by Ravenna Press in 2004, and a Japanese-bound hand-made limited edition Mewl House published by The Rogue Literary Society in 2005.
