Book Condition Guide

Here at World of Books, we are home to over 2 million second hand and used books. We thoroughly check and grade each book as it comes into our warehouse. Below you will find a guide to the grading of our books so when you are browsing the site, you know exactly what book condition you are purchasing. 

 

Very Good

- Minimal amount of creasing to the spine

- Square binding

- Minimal or no discolouration to pages

- Dust jacket present

 

Good

- Slightly crooked spine or slightly torn dust jacket

- Mild creasing of cover

- Slightly loose bindings

- Mild browning

- Slight highlighting or note taking

 

Well Read

- Spine may be warped with cracking and scuffing

- Cover may be discoloured and creasing

- Pages may be browned and warped

- Markings and note taking do not interfere with reading

- May be without end papers or title page

- May be some water damage

- Cover slightly torn

 

World of Books also obtains stock classed as 'ex-library' which has been legitimately purchased from old library stock. This will come with in the above conditions, but also marked as ex-library which may mean there are some of the following:

 

Ex-library

- Library stamps within first few pages

- May come with a plastic sleeve around the cover

- Possibility of library stickers on cover or within
