What are the Alex Rider books about?
A teenage boy is faced with the shocking realities of crime, undercover worlds, and missions which force him to harness abilities turning him into the best known teenage spy in the literary world. With action packed into every page, expect thrilling twists, nefarious villains, and - of course - explosions.
The Alex Rider series is ideal for young readers aged 9 and above. It’s fantastic for getting kids who are full of energy and need constant action into reading.
Though the missions are brilliant individual reads, we recommend reading the series chronologically from book 1, in order to fully understand the backstories of Rider and get to know all the recurring characters - especially the villains!

Alex Rider books are written by Anthony Horowitz, the author of the new Sherlock Holmes and new James Bond novels, the Power of Five series, as well as film and TV series including Foyle’s War. Books in the Alex Rider series have sold over 19 million copies worldwide. The first book, Stormbreaker, was made into a film in 2006. In the summer of 2020, Amazon Prime Video released the first season of an adaptation of the spy thriller series to much critical acclaim. It has been confirmed for a second season expected in late 2021.
