About Alan Henry

Alan Henry is one of the most respected F1 journalists, and has built up good relationships with most of the sport's leading personalities over the years. He is currently Grand Prix Editor for Autocar and regular Formula 1 columnist for The Guardian. He lives in Essex.

Formative years in Somerset; karting with support from his father, who prepared his karts; graduation to Formula Ford in 1998 and F3 in 1999. F1 with Williams, frequently putting established team-mate Ralf Schumacher under pressure. Tough times during his first year driving for Renault in 2001, followed by a year of maturing and picking up the pace. To BAR-Honda, facing up to team-mate Jacques Villeneuve and eventually gaining the upper hand to consolidate his role as team-leader for 2004. After controversy over contract negotiations, the up-and-down 2005 and 2006 seasons, including Jenson's sensational debut win in Hungary in 2006. Character-building 2007 and 2008 seasons driving an uncompetitive Honda - followed by Honda's withdrawal from F1 and an uncertain future for Jenson.
