Hijra by Ash Kotak

Whilst on holiday in Indian and avoiding his mother's pleas to marry, British-born Asian Nils falls in love with Raj who lives in a house of Hijras (eunuchs). A plan is hatched to smuggle Raj as Nils' wife back to Wembley, and it takes all the resources of Guru Hijra's supernatural support to avoid disaster thereafter. Hijra was performed at The West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds, in February 2002.

About Ash Kotak

Ash Kotak was born in North London and trained at the London International Film School. He has written, produced and/or directed both drama and documentary including 'Macheath, Divided by Rape' for Channel 4 and 'When Shura Cherkassky met Hobie' for BBC Radio 3. He has won a number of awards.
