Glossary of Building and Civil Engineering Terms Summary

Glossary of Building and Civil Engineering Terms by British Standards Institution

This glossary - the first of its kind - has been produced by the British Standards Institution to ensure co-ordination and consistency throughout the construction industry and to provide better tools for the handling of information. Whereas a dictionary attempts to show all the variants of use of a word, a glossary aims to eliminate conflict and prevent overlapping use of terms. Some 9,000 terms are grouped under basic concepts, with a full alphabetical index at the end. BSI have issued the glossary as a British Standard (BS 6100) in 55 parts. Blackwell Scientific Publications are publishing the first single volume edition.

Table of Contents

Introduction; General and miscellaneous; Civil Engineering; Services; Forest products; Masonry; Concrete plaster.
