The Rock File series was published between 1972 and 1978 by Panther and has been out of print for over 15 years. This volume is an anthology of the five original volumes, reprinted with new introductions. Rock File charted the trajectory of popular music in Britain at a critical point in its development, from the people who created the music and the industry that manufactured it to the DJs and record buyers who played it. Providing a perspective from writers and performers contemporary with their subjects, this anthology presents the best writing from Rock File, capturing the dynamic fragmentation of popular music and its audiences during the decade.
