Combining travel with scientific research and a whole range of ecological issues, Professor Ghillean Prance is a man whose faith informs and impacts on his work as the Director of Kew Gardens. His scientific specialization is in the field of taxonomy - the identification and classification of plants - carried out over a period of 20 years on the Amazon rainforest. Because of what he saw there, narrow specialization grew into wider involvement in ecology, with particular concern for the human dimension. Many trees and plants now threatened are an irreplaceable repository of medicine. This book includes two sections of photographs, most taken by Professor Prance himself.
