About Daniel King

Daniel King started playing chess at the age of five and is now an International Grandmaster - the highest title a professional chess player can achieve. Daniel has written thirteen books on chess to date, including Kingfisher's Chess - From First Moves to Checkmate. He has also contributed articles to Britain's Independent on Sunday, The Sunday Times, The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph. In addition to chess and writing, Daniel has had extensive and varied broadcasting experience. He has lectured on games and strategy to corporate clients, such as IBM, Intel, Microsoft and Disney; devised puzzles for contestants on Cilla Black's Moment of Truth television programme; presented a children's chess master-class for Channel 4; scripted and presented documentaries on the history of chess for BBC Radio Four; reported on four World Chess Championships for broadeasters around the world including ESPN in the USA, Star TV in Asia, and Doordashan in India; and presented programme links on Nickelodeon Children's Channel.
