Bonnie Colne upon the hill is a town whose antiquity reaches back into the mists of time. During the campaign of the Roman general Agricola in ad 79, Colne was first recorded and in the year 1120, the town received a Markets and Fairs Charter. By 1311, a fulling mill is producing woollen goods and by the year 1810, King Cotton had begun its reign, culminating in a total of fifty-three cotton mills being established during the Victorian era.Today, Second World War babies, Geoff Crambie and Colin Bean have witnessed, during their combined 140 years in Colne, truly astounding changes. All 53 mills, important buildings and historic streets have gone forever and Colne Through Time will take you on a magical time-travelling journey from the Colne of yesteryear to the present day twenty-first century. About Geoff Crambie

Geoff Crambie was born in Colne June 1st 1943 and has had an interest in Colne's History since 1953. Has now written 9 books on the town and also lectures on Colne's Historic past. Appeared on the radio and television many times and has a vast collection (15,750) of old Colne pictures and 81 street name plates Colin is a local history author.
